Over decades inside the world's largest beauty companies, I watched the industry chase the same cycle
— the latest ingredient, or the next patented technology, applied universally without considering who
was actually using it. Impressive on paper. Generic in practice.
The industry bypassed the hairstylist, built around the ingredient, and marketed it to every hair type —
regardless of relevance. Somewhere along the way, the individual got lost. And so did the one person
who understood their hair best.
That was the problem worth solving.
I created élan to change that — and built the technology to make it possible. The élan pro/file™ bridges
the stylist's firsthand knowledge of each client with the scientist's understanding of what ingredients can
